RESULTS’ home page had been static for several years and needed a refresh. Some users were reporting having a challenging time finding what they needed, and we needed a clear way to help users self-select for the information they were seeking.
I directed a total remake of the home page, creating a special menu that listed our audiences in the top hero section. Users could now select their category (“potential volunteer,” “job seeker,” etc.) and see a corresponding menu of links that might interest them.
I also shot photos and conducted interviews for the home page features, making sure that we were including a personal element and connection point.
The Results
From 2023-2024, we had a 16% increase in home page clicks, and a 37% increase in home page views.
Lessons Learned
You never know where you’re going to find inspiration! Look outside the usual places to see if there are solutions you haven’t yet found. I found inspiration for this special drop-down menu on a UK university website.
